Van Camping vs Glamping at Red Rock Canyon! | BRV051

A friend of mine recently told me that some of my YouTube videos are almost like weird art performances. He gave multiple examples but his most recent one was, my wife and I recently drove an hour to visit a campground and then didn’t camp there. I’ll admit, in retrospect that seems like a weird decision, one I corrected with this video.

Long before I discovered vanlife, I learned that by sharing your hobbies online is a sure fire way to invite people — absolutel strangers from all over the globe — to tell you you’re doing things wrong. The world is full of self-proclaimed experts sitting behind their keyboards and licking their chops in wait of an opportunity to explain to you (typically in great detail) why you’re having fun the wrong way.

The reason this is on my mind is because in my latest video I poke a little fun at “glamping”. The tent my wife and in-laws slept in had three beds, two heaters, a couch, a refrigerator, a coffee maker, and several other niceties. No doubt a long line of mountain men will be rolling their eyes at the accommodation’s. Even I in the video scoffed at the amenities they were provided. Yes, me — a guy sleeping in a van with a 24″ television, a retro video game console, and a heated blanket.

Don’t take the “Van Camping vs. Glamping” title too seriously — we sure didn’t. Instead, here’s what we took seriously: our food, our fishing, and our fun.

We had fun and I hope you have fun joining us.
