These Tri-Fold Ramps from Kroak Lift You Up

Over the past three years I’ve been offered a few items to review that aren’t directly related to vanlife, but are let’s say “vanlife adjacent.” These tri-folding ramps from Kroak fall under that umbrella.

If you’ve ever tried loading a motorcycle into the bed of a pickup or a riding lawnmower onto a trailer, you know how useful ramps are. Decades ago I used to buy and sell vintage arcade machines and I can tell you first hand that getting those things into and out of pickup beds and trailers, while possible, is a real pain in the butt without ramps.

These tri-fold ramps from Kroak are designed for loading things like ATVs and riding lawnmowers into trucks or onto trailers. The gaps between the rungs are wide enough that it wouldn’t work with a dolly, but they’ll work with most things you ride or drive.

The ramps are just over six feet long and, when folded into thirds, only 18″ wide. When unfolded the ramps expand to 54″ wide — wide enough for most four-wheelers and riding lawnmowers. The six foot length ensures the ramps aren’t too steep when attached to a truck’s bed.

The ramps are made of aluminum and while they only weigh 40 pounds, they can support up to 1,800 pounds of weight. When loading something that heavy you’ll want to attach the ramp to your truck by using the two included ratchet straps.

One thing that impressed me about these ramps is the construction quality. The welds look nice and solid. The sides of the ramp have metal claps that keep the ramps in the folded position when in storage.

Lately I’ve been using the ramps to load the eBike in and out of my van. I can and have loaded the eBike into the van without the ramps, but it’s a real pain with one person. I probably wouldn’t buy these ramps solely for the purpose of loading an eBike into a van, but my son has a pickup truck, my dad has a pickup truck, and I have a trailer so between all those things they’ll get (and are getting) a lot of use.
