Of all the things companies have sent me to review, I think Ceenr’s PDnation battery may be one of my favorites. Not only is it an ingenious design, but it’s something almost every do-it-yourselfer can use whether they’re into vanlife or not.
In the description of my YouTube video I rhetorically asked why every manufacturer of 18V tools uses a different battery, but we all know the answer. Once you own a couple of tools from one brand, you’re more likely to buy other tools of that same brand since you can use the same batteries and chargers. I have over a dozen tools from Ryobi and while I think Ryobi’s okay, the reality is when I need a new tool I look for that brand first since I already have three Ryobi chargers and six Ryobi batteries.
Ceenr doesn’t make 18V tools; they make batteries. By itself, their PDnation 18V battery doesn’t connect to a tool. Instead, Ceenr also sells adapters that connect to the battery and work with the various brands. The idea here is that you can purchase one battery and then purchase a series of adapters. Ceenr sells adapters compatible with Ryobi, DeWalt, Milwaukee, Makita, Black and Decker, and several other brands. It’s such a smart model that I have to wonder why nobody else has already done it, frankly.
The smart design doesn’t end there. The PDnation battery is charged via USB-C, which means you no longer need to have half a dozen different chargers tying up shelf space. When not connected to a tool, the battery can be used as a USB power bank, thanks to an additional USB-A connection. The battery also features several safety features including overcharge detection, overheating detection, low voltage detection, and voltage spike detection. There are even a series of LED lights on the abttery displaying its current charge.

Ceenr sent me their 4.0Ah battery to test along with two adapters (Ryobi and DeWalt). The battery functioned as expected. For larger tools like saws and nail guns, you might want to look at the 5Ah or 8Ah model. After drilling and sawing a few things I took the battery over to a friend’s house to test on his DeWalt drills, and thanks to the USB-C charging port I was able to charge the battery in my car and arrive with it at 100%.
After a few days of testing the battery, I ordered the 8.0Ah PDnation for myself. I like them that much. While I don’t have any other brands of 18V tools, this willl allow me to purchase some. A big selling point for me is the USB-C charging, which will allow me to take tools with me on the road or work outside and not have to drag around a 110v charger to deal with.
For some of the solo batteries and other adapters you’ll want to check out Ceenr’s website, but I’ve included a few package deals below from Amazon with the 4.0Ah battery and an adapter.
