Home!

After spending three weeks out of the country, I am finally home! I almost didn’t write the blog post because I’m working on a YouTube video that will cover some of the same ground, but the video isn’t ready and gosh darnit, I missed you all so… here we are, and here I am!

So, where have I been? Just over three weeks ago my wife and I, partially to celebrate our upcoming 30th wedding anniversary, went on one hell of a vacation. Beginning here in Oklahoma we flew to the UK and spent two days in London, two days in Paris, and two days in Barcelona, Spain before boarding a cruise ship and spending the next two weeks sailing while visiting Malaga and Cadiz (both in Spain), the Azores Islands (in Portugal), and Bermuda before finally arriving back in Miami and flying back home. We were gone a total of three weeks — the longest vacation I’ve taken in my entire life.

If you didn’t know all that, I forgive you and to be perfectly honest, it’s my fault. One of the problems with social media is that the further you spread your internet wings, the more difficult it is to communicate with all of your followers. Along with this website, I also have my Instagram account, my YouTube account, and my Patreon page (which is free to follow!). You can find links to all of my social media accounts at BigRobsVan.com/links, but those are the biggies (here, Instagram, YouTube, and Patreon).

Back to the trip. We saw so many wonderful things and visited so many beautiful places. I’d never been to the UK before and every single thing I saw was amazing, from the little to the big. Even the cliche things like those red phone booths and double decker busses were a delight to see… and visiting places like the Tower of London and the Eiffel Tower were mind blowing. When your hotel overlooks the Thames River and Big Ben wakes you up in the morning, it’s hard to complain.

All of this travel has made me thought about the way I’ve been doing “vanlife” over the past couple of years, and has inspired me to make some changes going forward. I don’t want to get into more detail than that because I’m literally working on a video that’ll explain more, but don’t worry — it’s all good stuff!

Vacations are a great way to reset your life — your mind, your attitude, even your habits. I’m really trying to bundle all the positive things I experienced over the past month, capture them in a bottle, and figure out a way to sprinkle it out throughout my days now that I’m home.

I’m so glad to be home. I can’t wait to get in the van this weekend and kick off a new adventure!
